If you have at all been following the OL Reign in the past few months, you would be aware that this club has acquired some huge names that will join the team later in the summer, or in the most recent case, perhaps just later this month. With the news of Rose Lavelle joining OL Reign potentially for the May 30th match, it is very difficult to not be excited about what this club has coming for it in just the near future. Since April 19th, OL Reign has announced the following acquisitions: Sarah Bouhaddi, Dzsenifer Marozsán, Eugénie Le Sommer, and Rose Lavelle. With this team already having players like Megan Rapinoe, Sofia Huerta, Bethany Balcer, Jess Fishlock, and so many more talented women, it is a truly exciting time to be an OL Reign supporter
Sarah Bouhaddi and Dzsenifer Marozsán: These two, on loan from Olympique Lyonnais, will join the Reign towards the end of the current season, and this loan will run through December of this year. Bouhaddi is the reigning FIFA best goalkeeper and is known as one of the greatest keepers in the history of this game. She has expressed her excitement to play in the US, and seems to be looking forward to getting to work on helping this team win trophies. Marozsán has accomplishments across the board as a midfielder, and despite my initial reading of "end of season," both have said that they will be joining the club in June, just one month away. Bouhaddi and Marozsán will join crowded keeper and midfield rooms, respectively, but the additions of these women will surely push this club to new heights, and we still have two more to go over! Eugénie Le Sommer: Le Sommer is a forward that aims to join this club in Tacoma after the June FIFA international window, joining Bouhaddi and Marozsán around that time. She has amassed a grand total of 274 goals for OL across all competitions, making her the all-time leading goal-scorer for Olympique Lyonnais. She has spent 11 years with the team and is widely regarded as the best striker in the clubs history. Le Sommer will be joining an attacking front that features Tziarra King, Bethany Balcer, Sofia Huerta, Leah Pruitt, Megan Rapinoe, Ally Watt, Jasmyne Spencer, and Nicole Momiki, which is already a talented group. Expect more goals to be scored in Cheney stadium by our Reign. You can check out the full article about Ms. Le Sommer here: https://www.olreign.com/news/le-sommer
Rose Lavelle: I have been curious about the potential addition of Ms. Lavelle ever since I saw that the Reign had acquired her NWSL rights via trade, and I have just been waiting to see when she may or may not join the club down in Tacoma. Today, we have learned that has become reality and that Rose will join the team potentially as soon as the May 30th contest. She will start her training with the club on May 26th. CEO Bill Predmore says that they envision Lavelle as a part of the long-term vision of the team, and that should really get Reign supporters fired up. If you know the USWNT, you know Rose. She has made 53 appearances for the United States, scoring 14 goals and adding eight assists in those appearances. You can check out the full article right here: https://www.olreign.com/news/lavelle
Am I quite sure how this team is going to fit all of these moving puzzle pieces together? No, absolutely not. It's why I am a member of the media and not part of the front office. But, I do know that this is very exciting and that I am beyond exhilarated to continue to cover this team into the future. BE BOLD, and go Reign!
