Northgate, WA – In the January 17th between the UW Women’s hockey team and the Seattle Women’s hockey club, Seattle would effectively dominate the contest. On rink two at the Kraken community Iceplex in front of some filled bleachers, Seattle was able to come out of the gates quickly.

Quick start for Seattle
After the opening 20-minute period, Seattle lead by a score of four to one. Washington’s Bella McQuade would score, bringing the puck up and beating the Seattle goaltender with her stick work. As the game continued on, Seattle would take advantage of Husky line changes and breakaways, ultimately leaving us with a final score of 11 to 1.
Positives to take away
The Huskies had goaltender Fanny Metsa-Tokila back for this scrimmage, after not being available for the December 13th scrimmage against Seattle. Despite the number of goals that you see, Metsa-Tokila made several good saves through the contest. At the end of the day, scrimmages like these are perfect opportunities to challenge yourself and learn against a team like Seattle Women’s hockey club that has been around for around a decade. There were several bright spots for UW, a team that is in its inaugural season and is still growing as a whole.
